Members of the press, I sincerely thank you for your prompt response to our call any time; there is need to expose crime and criminality in the state.
Today is another achievement for the corps in curbing the activities of vandals and other criminals in the state.
On the 2nd of May, 2013 at about 11:45pm, in the course of our continuous surveillance and patrol on the pipelines in Kwara State, the patrol team of NSCDC intercepted vandals, vandalizing petroleum pipeline around Osin area, in Ilorin West Local Government Area.
On sighting our men the vandals took to their heels and abandoned their vehicles, namely: a green coloured Toyota 18 sitter bus with registration number XL607BDG(Lagos) and an ash coloured Mezedes Benz 200E with registration
number LSD523AL (Lagos) both loaded with vandalized petroleum product of about 200 jerry cans (30litres).
Investigation revealed that there is a gully erosion in that area which the vandals capitalized upon and vandalized the pipeline to siphon fuel.
Let me use this opportunity to sound a warning to the vandals and criminals in the state to steer clear from Kwara State, because the state will be too hot for them to operate.
We are using this medium to call on the villages that pipelines passes through in the state to continue to cooperate with the corps, with their cooperation and prompt information, we shall combat crime in the state.
After thorough investigation, the impounded petroleum products shall be handed over to the NNPC and advise to commence repairs on the vandalized area immediately.
