It is worth noting to state that it was as a result of the passion and drive in ensuring total security and peace in the oil rich region and the desire to carry on the meritorious job done by his predecessor Dr. Mrs. Helen Amakiri as well as the sterling qualities found in his style of leadership, command and control especially in curtailing and managing volatile situations in crises and crime prone areas in the oil region and the country that prompted the choice of Mohammed Lawal as the one competent enough to man the leadership of the corps in Rivers state.
He came with a message to illegal bunkers/vandals and those still engaging in kidnapping, crime and criminality to have a rethink and change of heart by engaging themselves in something meaningful for whoever is caught will not go unpunished. This he has been able to prove by securing additional 2 convictions within eleven days in office as the state Commandant in Rivers raising the number to 46. He believes Nigerians are good people and should be given opportunity to showcase their talents and channel their strength to something noble and worthwhile and not vices.
